ROWLAND HEIGHTS: Coconut Station

Posted in food, los angeles, restaurants by sue on November 17, 2010

This is definitely not the best Thai food I have ever had. It’s decent, but I have to say I doubt I’ll ever step foot in this place again. The best thing I had here was their complimentary salad with strawberries, oranges, and green apples. The yogurt dressing was nice and light.

Their noodle roll appetizer was the absolute worse Thai dish I’ve had in a while. It looked nothing like the picture on the menu. It was supposed to be dry, but clearly it wasn’t. The sauce completely overpowered the dish.

The chicken curry was good, but was quite plain. Their medium hot had a good kick to it, but their pickled chilis were even better.

Must Get: Their duck lunch special

9th avenue in midtown west/hell’s kitchen is overcrowded with Thai restaurants. Most actually share the same owner, at least that’s what their business cards imply. Thai Select is just one of the bunch and has been consistently good with the exception of a bland papaya salad. They even offer whole wheat pasta.

Since there are so many Thai restaurants in this city, especially in this section of town (hell’s kitchen), I will never go back to this restaurant. Their pad khing was flavorless.
